At Van Leeuwen Law Firm, integrity is the foundation of our professional identity, our legal services and the manner in which we discharge our responsibilities towards clients, the administration of justice and society at large. As an independent law firm, we recognise that trust is established not merely through legal expertise or demonstrable results, but fundamentally through the assurance that every decision, every action and every professional relationship is guided by reliability, diligence, independence and a profound commitment to ethical responsibility. We therefore maintain rigorous standards of professional conduct for everyone associated with our firm. These standards extend beyond formal compliance with applicable laws, regulations and professional obligations. They also govern how we engage with clients, colleagues, opposing parties, courts, regulatory authorities and other stakeholders; how we prevent conflicts of interest; how we safeguard confidential information; and how we preserve our independence and integrity under all circumstances.
Our Code of Conduct for Professional Practice, Ethics & Integrity translates these fundamental principles into a comprehensive, transparent and enforceable framework of professional standards applicable throughout our organisation. The Code establishes the responsibilities, behavioural expectations and ethical obligations of lawyers, employees, trainees and other individuals performing work under the firm’s responsibility. Particular emphasis is placed on professional independence, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, ethical client service, financial integrity, respectful workplace conduct, information security, responsible use of digital technologies and the protection of our firm’s reputation and institutional credibility. The Code also establishes unequivocal boundaries concerning activities unrelated to the firm’s authorised services and requires personnel to report identified or reasonably suspected misconduct immediately through the prescribed reporting channels to firm management, without prejudice to any legally protected alternative reporting mechanisms.
For Van Leeuwen Law Firm, integrity is neither an abstract principle nor merely a regulatory compliance requirement. It is an ongoing professional responsibility that must be demonstrated through individual conduct, sound judgment, accountable decision-making and a willingness to uphold shared professional standards. We are committed to fostering an organisational culture in which individuals exercise independent and critical judgment, openly address ethical dilemmas, reject improper influence and accept responsibility for the consequences of their actions. Our duties towards clients must always be fulfilled with due regard for professional independence, confidentiality, the rights of third parties and the proper administration of justice. Ultimately, an organisation’s integrity is defined not solely by the standards it formally adopts, but by the consistency, determination and accountability with which those standards are applied, monitored and enforced in everyday professional practice.

This Code of Conduct was formally drawn up on 30 September 2026 by the management of I.L.A.C. Advocatuur en Consultancy B.V., trading as Van Leeuwen Law Firm, and entered into force on 1 October 2026. It serves as the overarching framework for professional conduct, ethical responsibility and integrity throughout our organisation, reflecting our enduring commitment to legal excellence, responsible leadership and lasting institutional trust.
